Payroll/HR Coordinator

The primary responsibility of the Payroll/HR Coordinator will be performing a variety of duties related to Payroll, Human Resources and Board Secretary support for Powdersville Water. Duties include, but are not limited to, compiling and preparing payroll for online data entry, monitoring paid leave balances, coordinating all employee benefits, new hire and separation meetings, planning various employee events, and serving as administrative assistance to the Board Secretary. Also, cross-trains for Accounting Specialist backup duties such as paying vendors, posting entries to general ledger, reconciling general ledger accounts, preparing month-end and other financial reports, and other duties, as assigned.

Minimum training and experience:

    • High School Diploma or G.E.D. required
    • Associates Degree in accounting, business administration or related field, preferred
    • Experience in payroll and/or human resources preferred
    • Proficient computer and technology skills and experience to include Microsoft Office Suite, internet, and ERP systems
    • Professional communication and presentation skills

Customer Service Representative

The primary responsibility of the Customer Service Representative is to assist in resolving and responding to customer concerns in person and over the phone. Main duties include addressing customer concerns/inquiries; establishing and maintaining customer accounts and records; processing payments, investigate and analyze customer usage utilizing MDM data and/or customer portal, generating service orders for customer service or operations staff; communicating with construction and field crews.

Characteristic preferences of potential candidates at Powdersville Water should include: Excellent Customer Service skills; accuracy in work performed; timeliness and dependability; ability to handle a variety of job responsibilities, handle frequent interruptions, adapt to change, ability to multi-task.

Minimum training and experience:

High School Graduate or GED and some business training. Water Utility experience including Customer Service and accounting/bookkeeping preferred.

Proficiency in computer skills including Microsoft Word & Excel software, ability to learn and utilize Utility Billing software and other software as needed.

Trainee Water Distribution Operator

The primary responsibility of the Trainee Operator will be training and assisting with the operation and maintenance of the water distribution system. The position will be trained in Water Distribution and be given the opportunity to obtain levels D, C, B, and A Water Distribution Operator licenses, as well as, various other licensing associated with the operation and maintenance of a water distribution system (i.e. Cross-Connection Control, Class A CDL, etc..)

  • Construction work – position will be working near heavy equipment, hand tools, and various water quality monitoring equipment associated with a water distribution system.
  • Communication – must have oral and written communication skills
  • Honest- Integrity is of utmost importance within PW, a public utility
  • Work environment – this position will be outside daily and will be exposed to various weather conditions
  • Safe Driving Record – will be responsible for operating a company vehicle (daily). Ability to obtain a CDL within 24 months required.
  • Team Oriented – position will primarily be operating within a construction crew of 3 individuals. Must have a priority for safety and the well-being of others.

This will be a temp to perm position, working a minimum of 40 hours per week with the possibility of unscheduled and scheduled overtime.

Minimum Training and Experience

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. required
  • Valid SC Driver’s license required (Class – A CDL preferred, or ability to acquire within 24 months)
  • Good reading, writing, and basic math skills
  • Willingness to work an on-call rotating schedule
  • Underground construction experience, a plus
  • Heavy equipment operating experience, a plus
  • Ability to receive Water Distribution D Certification within 24 months of hire date
